City Youth Matrix Member Families, Waitlisted families, and invited guests, please join us for an evening of fellowship at The Farm Amvets (same place as last Family Empowerment dinner).

CYM families, guests and staff will do a service project together. We will be creating cards and pictures to send to seniors ( including some who are veterans) that live in local assisted living communities. We expect each family to make 3 to 5 cards and deliver a total of 500 cards to help brighten the spirits of local seniors in December. 

Families may choose to write a little note and share details of their family with the recipient. (EX: We have lived in Frederick for 7 years and have 3 children ages 5 to 9. Joey is five, goes to kindergarten and drew the picture of the snowman for you. He wants to build a real one this winter. ) Families may also choose to include their address in case the person who received the card wants to write back - this is not required. 

Our sponsor, Oasis Senior Advisors, will deliver the cards in early December. 

The group will enjoy dinner and then the children will have their own special time together after the meal while the adults grow in knowledge and empowerment to help lead their families.

Las familias, los invitados y el personal de CYM realizarán un proyecto de servicio juntos. Crearemos tarjetas e imágenes para enviar a las personas mayores de edad (incluidos algunos que son veteranos) que viven en comunidades locales de vida asistida. CYM COVID-19 Statment

City Youth Matrix COVID-19 Prevention Standard Operational Procedures (SOP)Protocol:

CYM takes the health and safety of all of our participants very seriously and will endeavor to act with a high level of responsibility whenever we gather in small and large groups.

It is out of an abundance of caution and with great respect that we ask everyone (child and adult) attending any of our CYM sponsored events to either be vaccinated, be willing to wear a mask (or both) or be willing to not participate in person, but rather attend virtually. Those who attend any CYM event will have their temperature checked upon arrival. Those with a temperature over 100.4 will not be permitted to attend.

We will not ask anyone for proof of their vaccination ie: vaccination card, but will trust that participants will be respectful of our CYM COVID-19 prevention protocol.

While we respect everyone’s personal decision regarding their own health care, we believe that there has been sufficient evidence to show that the vaccine is likely to be affective at minimizing the spread of COVID-19.

This is an important time to look out for each other by respecting the health, safety and personal decisions of our friends, family, neighbors and community partners.

Heavy Metal Playground is opening their doors to CYM to provide a fun day for kids (and their parents). They will introduce kids to heavy equipment and let them operate the equipment in a safe environment. The goal is to give them a unique experience while at the same time possibly put them on a career path.

Join us for a FREE community concert with CYM’s own Harmonica Bill! Bill and friends will present a concert for the kids to show how playing in a group can be fun!  Many instruments will be used (guitars, cajon (box drum), conga and yes even harmonicas!) The band members are very excited about this concert and making sure everyone that attends feels like they are part of the entire experience! Kids will get a chance to participate throughout the show.
